Introduced is Japanese long sword (\"Katana\") in Koshirae (decorative) AND Shirasaya (non-decorative) fittings!

APPEALING POINTS:

The blade is muscular, i.e. wide and thick, while the shape is grace!
The blade is very well polished like new and is in healthy condition!
Hamon, i.e. the temper line on the blade, is just beautiful!
The sword comes with both Koshirae and Shirasaya fittings! It is very good to have Shirasaya fitting for better maintenance of the blade!

This Katana sword has a sword registration (small white paper in the very last picture below), which was issued bySaitama Prefecture Board of Education. Please note that the sword registration is issued by Board of Education in each prefecture when it appraises the sword as an artistic object, rather than merely permits the possession of the sword.

The registration provides that the signature engraved on the Nakago tang reads Fujiwara (藤原) in the Hida Province, and the first name is cut. The previous owner, a Katana dealer,said that the first name should beUjifusa (氏房).

Ujifusa is one of very reputable swordsmith representing in the late 16th through early 17th centuries, or Momoyama through early Edo periods in the Japanese calendar.

The blade shapeis vigoroso and grace. The bladeis finely polished and is in very good condition like new. Make sure to watch the below video, which provides macro close-up views of the blade and the Koshirae fitting, so that you could see how fine the conditions of the items are.

Hamon on the blade isMidareba (乱れ刃) type, i.e. irregular temper line, whichis very beautiful.

Therearetwo Mekugi holes.

Mountings are also attractive. The Tsuba guardalso has a signature. The scabbard is nicely black-lacquered. Feeling of the Tsuka grip is very nice.

CONDITION:The blade is well polished and isin very good condition with somescratches, flaws, and light rusting spots, which are not fatal. The Koshirae and Shirasaya fittings are in very good condition, and in particular, the Koshirae scabbard is just like new. There is a stringy crack on the grip of the Shirasaya fitting. Sold as-is.
