Before you purchase the instructions, it is a good idea to download the LEGO Digital Designer software andensure that it runs on your computer. If you have a Mac, you needOperating system OS X 10.6.8 or higher.If you have a PC, you need Operating system Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8.
You will receive a softwarefile with INSTRUCTIONS ONLY to build a LEGO Christmas tree, no printed material and no building parts are included. This is a unique LEGO building design, not from a manufacturer\'s kit. One photo shows a version of an actual finished product.
You can make it any colors you desire! You could even use the pattern to build a snow white tree or a volcano with lava flowing down the sides, or anything else that has a cone shape.
The structure that you build will not be completely solid with bricks. Inside I constructed a scaffold which sturdily supports the weight of the green parts. You might not even need the support structure, but I wanted to be able to transport my tree and reduce the risk of having to rebuild it.
Much of the scaffold shown was made using DUPLO parts, but regular LEGO parts will work also. The base of the tree is 10 inches wide and it fits exactly on a standard 32x32 baseplate. With the star on top it is about 14 inches tall! To build the tree as shown will require about 400 of the bamboo leaf pieces, (that\'s a large cupful at the Pick-a-Brick wall.) I willsend you two types of files by email: a .pptx (PowerPoint) file with photos to show how to build the scaffold with DUPLO and two .lxf (LEGO Digital Designer) files to build both the scaffold and the outside of the tree using LEGO Digital Designer andregular LEGO parts. The directions will allow you to build a sturdy cone which you can decorate however you wish.
LEGO Digital Designersoftware is free to download. Using the free software, you can zoom and rotate this model in three dimensions.When the instructions are loaded into the software, LDD can be used in Build Mode to show the location of the next piece on each click. The LEGO Digital Designer software can also be used to create an html version of the instructions. with a complete parts list on the final page.
