I have been restoring farm toys for 30 years. The first thing I learned was there is not a \"one size fits all\" rivet tool. I ended up making my own tools. I have six or seven. I am going to try building extras selling them. I am the only one that has these tools.

I have also used it on plow rolling coulters, 3pt hitches, and tie rods. This tool will take a rivet up to 7/16 long. Will not work on toy tractor bodies.
This is how it works. You place the tool over the rivet. The jaw with the rivet punch tip goes in the open end of the rivet. The rivet head will be supported by the other jaw. Now, Slide the clamp down as close to the rivet as possible. The closer to the rivet you place the clamp, The better it will work. Next you tighten the two bolts (10 MM wrench or socket required) evenly. It is important to tighten the bolts evenly to keep the two jaws parallel to each other. You will get a better more even flare. i sometimes use a small Visegrip plier for a handle.
The clamp can be switched from the left side to the right side. This gives you more room when riveting picker snouts.I find using a small Vise Grip pliers for a handle works better.
