For your consideration is this large and finely carvedstone bead depicting a tightly coiled serpent.

This meticulously carved ornament isbi-conically perforated, polished to a lovely lustrous finish and measures 2”(5 cm) diameter x 7/8” (2.5 cm).

Without checks, cracks, repairs orrestoration, this museum-grade zoomorphic bead is in excellent condition and suitable for display and/or wear.

Provenance: EX: MUSEUM COLLECTION. This fine serpent bead formed part ofthe collection donated to the Connecticut Historical Society museum

in the late19th century by Edgar T. Welles - President, International Company of Mexicoand son of Gideon Welles, Secretary of the Navy under Abraham Lincoln

and AndrewJohnson. The collection was later de-accessioned and acquired by the seller atsale in 1977.
