RARE PERTHSHIRE BOUQUET PAPERWEIGHT 1983E WITH BOX / CERTIFICATE No 93 OF 194:
$171.07

This Perthshire ‘Bouquet’ paperweight was issued in 1983 under the number ‘1983E’ in a Limited Edition of only 300. However, only 194 were eventually made and this one is No. 93 of that small issue and is therefore very rare. It is one of a small collection of superb and rare weights that I am currently listing. Please see my other items. This lovely weight is housed in its original maroon white satin-lined presentation box with the Perthshire logo on the lid in gold. It has a single round top facet and a grid cut base. The sides feature five slightly concave round ‘window’facets through which the central design can be seen from different angles. The central design of two lamp work flowers and a complex cane flower with green leaves is surrounded by two rings of millefiori canes in green and white. There is a tiny ‘P’ cane in the outer ring of canes. The original Perthshire paper label is still present, though detached from the weight. The Certificate of Authenticity, bearing the facsimile signature of Stuart Drysdale, is present and certifies that:
“this faceted weight consists of a bouquet of flowers set in two rings of millefiori canes cut with a criss-cross pattern on the base. ‘E” - and that “this weight is one of a restricted issue of 300 pieces being made in 1983”. The weight measures 5 cms (2” ) across the diameter of the top facet cut plus top curve of the encasing crystal and 7 cms (2¾”) across the base and is about 4.5 cms (1¾”) in height, allowing for the curve. It weighs 369gms without its box and 490gms with its box, before packing. The box measures 11.5 cms (4½”) by 11.5cms (4½”) and is 6.5cms (2½”) tall. Those fortunate enough to have a copy of ‘The Complete Guide to Perthshire Paperweights’ by Mahoney and McClanahan (pub. 1997) will find this weight on page 39. There it also confirms that only 194 were actually made.ConditionThe paperweight and its box are both in an excellent and clean condition with no chips or scratches on the weight and no restoration or polishing. PostagePostal charges are based on the weight of the paperweight and its box fully packed. I always, as a matter of policy, use a ‘signed for’ and ‘tracked’ postal option and insure for the full value. These fine valuable glass pieces require good packaging and plenty of it. I pack most carefully in tough new packaging for which I make no charge. Please note that I have successfully sent fragile items all over the world for many years. I have also learned that with fragile items, it is safer and more prudent to pack in a comparatively large box. I aim to keep the postage as low as possible, commensurate with the demands of safety and security and I always return any postage inadvertently overcharged, as will be clear from my response. I am happy to accept Paypal and will accept personal cheques, but because of the expense, complexities and delays in the UK in the processing of foreign currency cheques I have reluctantly had to stipulate ‘Sterling only’ for these. Very sorry! Please feel free to ask any questions.
