This sale is for a RARE VINTAGE 50s CUSTOM MADE DRESS BY JEANNE LANVIN, PARIS, HAUTE COUTURE. This matching dress & coat ensemble wascustom made in Paris, and has the signature Jeanne Lanvin label. This dress was custommade for the Strawbridge & Clothier (Philadelphia) heiress (MargaretStrawbridge Clews), and has a letter of provenance from a family member of theClews family (Clews & Strawbridge Motors, of PA), included. We are pleased to offer this rare opportunityto own a piece of vintage haute couture art, made by Antonio del Castillo for the House of Lanvin, Paris,France. This dress & coat are madeof a fine cobalt blue raw silk with gold leaf print. This gorgeous Lanvin dress features aplunging V neckline on front and back, a fitted bodice, bow and ribbon sash,zipper back, corset interior with zipper, full side pleated skirt, and fluffy 4layer tulle & organdy petticoats ( a large hem tear on the inner most layer). Thematching long jacket/coat is made of the same silk fabrics in an oversizedswing style with three-quarter sleeves ending in a bell shaped cuff. This ensemble measures flat: dress; 18 ½ chest, 14 waist, 15 shoulders,full skirt, 48 length (tea length).Jacket (swing): 17 shoulders, 25chest, 32 wide at bottom of jacket, 31 length, 19 sleeves. CONDITION: The dress is in very good condition for ageand fabric with only 1 minor split (pencil eraser size see picture), one stain(1/4”) both on front skirt, and a few stitches needed on the fitted bodice (seepictures and request more if needed).The jacket has a few more issues with some shattering of the silk at thecollar, and on the left top shoulder.There are also stains on the front and on the sleeves. It is being sold as it came from the estatewith nothing altered or cleaned, as is, not perfect, so please bear this inmind. A shop value of $5000+, at a lowstarting offer.
