Theseare scarcer than hens teeth. Hard toeven find reference on the internet.Last one I saw was at a show way more than ten years ago that wasmissing most of its paint and some parts, some were glued on, the helmet wasgone, and they wanted $250. Don’t knowhow many of these were made by whom (no maker marks), but they are made out ofmolded plaster of paris or sculpted gypsum, and fragile, so that they were easilybroken. This one is remarkably goodshape, lightly chipped here and there, but otherwise intact, paint is mostly inplace, and it still has the tin Kaiser helmet tied around its paw. Base is about 5 x 4 inches, and the bulldogsits about 7.5 inches high.

Front says \"DEVIL DOG\", right side says: \"HE HAS NO MASTER\"and the left side says: \"U.S. MARINE\". Back of figurine has aninscription: \"Made by permission of the United States Marine Corps\"

Thisincludes two original documents that came with it, a copy of the posterentitled HE HAS NOT MASTER, made by Robert L. Dickey (1861-1944), and smallcard that explains the history.

Don’tknow if it was made during WWI, or post, or by whom. The Marines so impressed theGermans with their tenacity and ferociousness that they named them TeufelsHund, or Devil-Dog. The bulldog thenbecame the Marine mascot. This is quitethe find!
