A primitive most unusual hand forged cutting tool, perhaps for cutting corn stalks or cabbage off at their base. The wooden one piece handle is in great shape for its age, that I believe to be well over 100 years. The \' V \' blades are 7-1/2\" long, and 1-1/8\" at their widest point, and very sharp.. The metal portion is 30\" long ,the hook part of the wooden knob\'d handle, (probably Hickory) is about 7-1/2\" wide and the knobed end about 1-1/2\" round and protrudes down another 14\", as it widens to a rectangle of 1-3/8\" X 1-3/4\" for about 11\", and tapers to fit into the molded steel hand forged, wrapped steel insert and riveted .Please see pictures of exactly what it is .This is truly a remarkable piece of wokrmanship.
