This is a very attractive oil on canvas of that most iconic of Quebec spring scenes: a sugar bush in the woods. A cabin in a stand of still-bare maple trees in the melting snow is silhouetted against an austerely grey sky.

In the upper-left hand corner of the canvas, a man stacks cord wood in front of the \"cabane au sucre\" in preparation for \"sugaring off\", the process of collecting sap from maple trees, then reducing, it by boiling in an open kettle over a wood fire, until it becomes a vat of delicious Canadian maple syrup.

In the right foreground of the picture, stands a maple tree with a blue lidded sap pail attached to the trunk slowly, and invisible filling with treasure.

This Canadian landscape was painted by Helmut Langeder (1943-) , a member of the Society of Canadian Artists. Langeder is a well-known commercial illustrator, designer, and painter. His work was exhibited in the prestigious commercial art gallery in Eaton\'s department store, in downtown Montreal.

The canvas is professional framed in a wide, gilt wood frame.Itwould make a wonderful addition to a fine collection of Canadian landscapes. A beautiful painting to hang in your cabin in the woods!

Marked: Signed by the artist on the front lower R/H corner, and on the top back edge of the canvas frame(pictured).
