\'THE LAST COMMAND\' (\'ALAMO\') 2 Original 1955 Italian Lobby Posters:
$34.95

Up for grabs are two (2) original Italian lobby posters for the 1955 Republic Pictures release of \"The Last Command,\" which bore its original title \"Alamo\" in its European run. The historical epic was developed as a pet project by John Wayne at Republic, but studio politics took it out of his hands. He retained the U.S. rights to the title \"The Alamo,\" so Republic retitled it \"The Last Command\" and made the film with its own star, Sterling Hayden. John Wayne had to wait some four years before he had the financing to move ahead independently with his own production of \"The Alamo.\"In Europe the Republic film could be released as \"Alamo,\" and these two colorful lobby posters remain to remind us of what was also a very successful historical epic. The Herbert J. Yates production focused on \"six foot six\" Jim Bowie (Hayden) and his personal relationship, as a landowning naturalized Mexican citizen, with the Mexican dictator General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana (J. Carroll Naish).Like the legend of the Texas defenders, these two oversized lobby posters survive bearing some of the scars of time but with their glory intact. Each measures 26 inches wide by 19 inches high. They have been folded in half, but we will ship them to the buyer rolled safely in a shipping tube, ready for framing in that special movie den or recreation room. They would look fantastic in a rough wooden frame behind a bar. Please examine the photos, for what you see is what we\'ve got. Returns accepted only if it is not as described.

These posters come from the private collection of a film critic. They were kept in a pet- and smoke-free office. Please look at the other original movie posters, celebrity photos and Hollywood memorabilia in our store.
