This sumptuous plush velvet cape is embellished with a stunning Jet beaded clasp that has dangling beads. It fastens at the neckline with a large hook and eye. There\'s a lovely soutache trim down the front center, and in the back , and around the sides.
The Soutache trim and Jet beading accent the collar and the bottom area of the cape. Just imagine how many hours it took to hand bead this beauty! The fur is in fabulous wearable condition, as is the silk lining. Except for a bit of wear around the neck, this is in amazing condition.
Queen Victoria popularized Jet trim and jewelry for 2nd year mourning attire when her beloved Prince Albert died in 1861. The queen grieved him so much that she never came out of the required two year morning for widows.This is one of the nicest pieces of Jet trimming that I have seen.
