Hattie Carnegie\'s thermoplastic figural earrings are one of the most popular collectibles for lovers of vintage costume jewelry. The Ram\'s head earrings are also wonderful to wear if your zodiac sign is Aries the Ram for April birthdays.
This set is a very rare find as this specific color scheme is extremely hard to come by. The pair of plastic faux jade ram\'s head earrings are set with sparkling rhinestone eyes. The earrings are made of jade green plastic for the ram\'s face and navy blue plastic for the ram\'s antlers. His horns are navy blue that can appear slightly amethyst in certain light. The earrings measure 1\" top to bottom and 1\" across the navy blue/amethyst color horns. Like all Hattie Carnegie thermoplastic pieces they are highly detailed, especially the horns and molded facial features including the V at the top of the head. For a pair of earrings so much thought and detail went into the design of the Ram\'s head framed in a collar of clear rhinestones with bezel set rhinestone eyes. Careful attention was also given to the color of the gold tone metal setting, not the typical color of 14 kt. gold, but the color of 22 kt. gold used in ancient Greek jewelry and in contemporary figural Greek jewelry made by Zolotas. The color is bright and rich and again with much attention given to the repeated V design on the narrow band between the Ram\'s face and horns. Both clip earrings are clearly signed on the back Hattie Carnegie on the oval cartouche and are marked \"Hattie © Carnegie\"
Considering the earrings are at least 50 years old they are in excellent condition, the gold tone textured finish is bright and shows no wear. This is the same pair of earrings featured in Jacqueline Rehmann\'s book - \"Classic American Costume Jewelry - Volume 2 - Identification & Value Guide\".
