* RARE ORIGINAL EARLY AMERICAN VELVET THEOREM CAT *
This is a RARE early (possibly Pennsylvania) Theorem cat stuffed toy. Dating to 1890, these early child\'s toys have become today\'s treasures and will enhance any antique toy collection! This cat is very special and has a very unique look different from any other early velvet or cloth cat we\'ve seen. It\'s very primitive and is seen in the first photo with an early sampler from the same period to give you an idea of how wonderful it looks displayed next to an early sampler or textile! This circa 1890 striped cat is an unusual large size measuring 13\" long from her tail to her snout (sitting 7\" tall). She has a very appealing early look with her wonderful dark coloring, upturned snout, and original tiny black bead eyes. She is all original and only has a few old stitches on her. Her black painted stripes are still quite vivid after all these years. She is firmly stuffed with excelsior wood shavings. She has some age-related wear, which includes velvet being worn in some areas, however, the fabric is in strong condition overall with no holes except for a tear on the tail. The stitches on this cat are in a few areas on the tail, the right paw, and in the center of the underbelly. Otherwise, I would rate this cat as very good condition for being over 100 years old!
