BACKSTORY: The NAGEL candleholder is essentially an art piece in itself. Typically its form is triangulated with either a peaked connector center piece or a more corralled open yoke connection. Both are represented here. Designed to be stackable into totems or cantilevered from a rare base piecein custom configurations sometimes including the rareanchor dishas an element of joinery they are a centerpiece of midcentury editorialphotography and showcasedon platforms like1stdibs. More readily sourced in Europe they are often found piecemeal in the U.S. rather than in acohesive collection. Since production began in the late 60\'s an array of variation has appeared in the NAGEL including brutalist textures and plating finishes but whatever the interpretation has been, their unique anddecisive point of collection is focused on the ability to assemble, expand and /or interconnectindividual pieces into customized sculpture, as often shown without the candles as with.
