An article in the 1911 New York Herald stated that Aaron Burr had challenged Alexander Hamilton to a duel in a letter written on a side table similar to this metamorphic one that converts to a desk and chair. In fact this desk was patented by Stephen Hedges fifty years after the duel but the desk has always been known as the Aaron Burr Desk.
