First of all, I must mention that this leaf has an unusual watermark in the hand-made paper, consisting of a double-lined oval border with what looks like a partial crescent moon. Very pretty.This is a rare and beautiful Coptic Christian Bible manuscript leaf. It dates to the 18th century, being made in Egypt. The size is about 6 1/2 in. x 9 in. It is written on thick paper, with discoloration and stains, due to its age and liturgical use over the centuries (see the scanned images). This leaf has ten lines of Coptic words (see the 12nd scanned image, the top 10 lines), and the rest of the leaf is the Christian Arabic language spoken in Egypt, not Muslim Arabic. This leaf has a large initial letter, which is the letter \"Gamma.\" On this leaf there is an occurrence of a NOMINA SACRA or \"Sacred Name,\" which are always indicated by a line over the word: \"The Spirit,\" in the abbreviated form of PNA, for \"pneuma,\" which can be seen in the 1st scanned image, 2nd line from the top, 1st word on the left. This leaf also has the following words: \"Nation\" or \"People\" (see the 2nd scanned image, 8th line from the top);\"Inherit\" (see the 2nd scanned image, 7th line from the top); and \"Family\" or \"Race\" (see the 2nd scanned image, 10th line from the top). Very important and interesting leaf. This is truly an amazing and beautiful leaf.
