This wonderful crepe paper was made by Dennison, the leader in crepe paper manufacture for almost 100 years, in the last century!~ This paper dates to the late 1940\'s - the early 1940\'s paper had a similar sleeve, but the paper was truncated due to a paper shortage during WWII. This paper was made after WWII, and is "extra strong" - a bit thicker than the normal paper, and a bit more stretchy. It was originally 19 cents for the package, which was 20" wide and 7 1/2 feet long. The only paper that they sold that was thicker was their duplex paper, which was 2 sheets, fused together.
Dennison was the "gold standard" for crepe paper and all sorts of party and other types of decorating papers in the last century, until they were bought out by Avery, who closed down their crepe paper and party divisions, and only kept their business products... at that time it became Avery Dennison.
Dennison published a LOT of booklets on crepe paper crafts (primarily), but other crafts and party catalogs, as well. There are still a lot of these craft books for sale, and the vintage crafts are wonderful! One of the most charming things you could make with old crepe paper was flowers. They had lots of books on making flowers from crepe paper. Additionally, there are dolls, holiday decorations, and just so much more. You could sew crepe paper, so doll clothes were a big thing. Dennison even sold jointed dolls, so you could make crepe paper clothes.
This package is for a dark, "royal" purple crepe paper. It is in good condition, with just a slight bit of wear along the edges, and a possible discoloration to the first turn of paper. It is wonderful paper, that would be fun for new and old crafts. I have LOTS of vintage crepe paper for sale, so take a look! The new crepe paper is much thinner than the vintage, so doesn\'t always perform as well on the vintage crafts.
Additionally, I have some crepe paper rope for sale - very scarce. It was used as handles for all kinds of things, as well as weaving things. Dennison made a crepe paper twister, but it was so much easier to buy the already made rope!
