10 ½\" Antique Papier-Mâché Doll MILLINER\'S MODEL c1840 Spaniel-Ears All-Original Description

A very excellent circa 1840 lady, this 10 ½” papier-mâché Milliner’s Model is all-original in her point-d’esprit gown, kidskin body and wooden lower limbs. Head measures 2 ¾” high, 2 ½” across shoulders and 1 ¾” front-to-back with 4” head circumference. The “Spaniel-Ears” hairstyle refers to two long curls over her ears with center part, comb-marks and ‘braided’ bun in back.

Her face has a bit dubious expression – perhaps her date is late – with original painted deep-blue eyes, light brows, rosy cheeks and sweet slightly-pursed mouth; head has light craceklure, though no repainting and no repairs. Kid body is sturdy with no patches, lower arms and legs are attached with original blue paper bands. Under her lovely gown is the original cotton petticoat, and her feet are painted as green slippers; from a non-smoking Environment. (W)
