Exquisite and antique large early Dirk Van Erp hammered copper vase. Impressive size: 10\" tall, 8-1/2\" diameter. Heavy...weighs over 3 lbs. This vase was recently displayed in Gus Bostrom\'s Dirk Van Erp Exhibition at his shop in Berkeley. Unsigned but has the outline of the small DVE paper label (information courtesy of Gus Bostrom via the Van Erp family) and the dimpled bottom (see Bostrom\'s DVE book for more information on that topic). Excellent condition w/ the exception of the drill hole in the bottom. Beautiful form and great richly colored dark patina. Minor patina unevenness. Dovetailed side seam, rolled rim, and inset bottom. Some pics taken w/ flash to highlight the expert planishing techinique...it has a fairly dark color.
