These displays were designed into some Collins avionics. They are small: only .875\" high. The characters are .375\" high. They plug into regular 16 pin DIP (dual inline package) IC sockets. They are not Nixies and they are not Vacuum Fluorescent (VFD). They are incandescent like RCA Numitrons (DR2000, DR2010, etc) 3015F\'s run at low voltage like Numitrons but even lower power so they last for as long as 50,000 hours of operation. They can display numbers 0 through 9 just as a 7 segment LED or LCD display can.

Minitrons run at voltages from 4.5 to 6.5 volts DC so they can be driven directly from logic chip. No high voltage drivers are needed. You can make a clock or counter that can run on batteries.

Notice: Although these were apparently used in avionics, I do NOT have a certificate of compliance for these and there is no indication of any screening (JAN, JANTX etc). The original application may or may not have required either.
