Arare mineral that is an important source of cesium.Pollucite was discovered in 1846 and named after Pollux a brother of Helen of Troy in Greek mythology. It is the only mineral were cesium is the essential element. Gems are normally small and under 10cts. in size. Well formed crystals are rare. It has a Mohs hardness of 6.5 and a specific gravity of 2.9. It has a brittle fracture and no cleavage.
