Description : A SUPERB COPTIC TEXTILE ROUNDEL WITH LOTUS FLOWER, ALMOST INTACT & RARE
Metrics : Diameter ca 6.5 inch, 16.25 cm
Color distribution : Superb vivid colours mainly light orange, with the lotus in shades of green and yellow; Dark green border with insets of orange and yellow.
Configuration : Large lotus flower in center perfectly symetrical flanked by two leaves in the lower part.
Function : From the thickness of the fabric probably part of a tapestry or wall hanging, definitely NOT a tunic.
Subject : Lotus flower
Border : Dark green with intermitent yellow and orange.
Possible age : Ca 5-6th cent.
