This charming young lady is a 12\" antique German papier mache Apollo Top Knot doll, so called milliners model, with slender original wooden limbs on a kid leather body.Her Apollo knot hairstyle with large curled puffs over the ears dates her to the 1830\'s. Her paint is all original with only a bit of minor scuffing to her 180 year old complexion.There is a surface crack across the back shoulder plate and her kid body has tender yet sturdy areas and some patching.All of this is covered by her original pink and white check hand made cotton dress styled in the mode of the day with a wide low neckline, gathered V shaped bodice trim and full sleeves.
