Handsome, antique, internal, slide bolt salvaged from Brooklyn, NY. The flushbolt is made of steel, and the lever or switch that activates the bolt and the keeper are made of solid brass.
If you are not familiar with this type of hardware, it\'s the locking mechanism installed on one of the doors in a pair of double doors, for the purpose of keeping one door stationary, while allowing the other to swing freely (see last photos for a visual).
We removed the piece from a tall entry door (see last photo). At the point of salvage, the flushbolt was completely painted, dirty, and rusty. Since then, we removed the paint and cleaned and polished it to the best of our ability. There are still spots of rust here and there but that just adds to the aged charm of the piece.
The face plate has some light oxidation from water exposure. This "pitting" gives it a nice, distressed look and a natural, textured design.The slide bolt is in great condition with no flaws to report. There are no breaks, gouges, dents, or cracks. The spring behind the lever or switch is strong, and won\'t allow gravity or a bump to retract the bolt once it\'s extended.
