Please Note: This HeavyCast Iron Urn (weighing about 16 pounds) is for LOCAL PICKUP ONLY IN STAMFORD,CT! Stamfordis located along beautiful Long Island Sound about 40 miles northeast of NewYork City – about an hour drive (if there are no traffic delays) or an hourcommute by (Metro North) train from Grand Central Station. Why not make this a mini-vacation: travel hereto stay in one of Stamford’s hotels (less expensive than those in NYC???) andtake the train to NYC to sight see before picking up this Cast Iron Urn andreturning home. We are also about 100miles from the historic Mystic Seaport Museum and the Foxwoods and Mohegan SunCasinos. This is a great area to visit!!

This vintage graceful Urn will add timeless charm to yourgarden and patio, or place it near your front door to welcome family members andguests as they arrive at your home!

  • A pattern of loops which may be an “Egg and Dart” pattern onits Rim (elongated loops reminiscent of “eggs”, although I do not see “darts”) surroundingthe Urn’s top opening.
  • Ornate with flutes on the Pedestal above the square base –these flutes are repeated in smaller scale farther up the Pedestal at thebottom of its bulbous Plant Holder area.
  • Molded ridges around the Pedestal add more visual interest.
  • Funnels downward from its 8 ¼ inch top opening
  • Drainage hole allows you to add living plants inside.
  • Chipping Crackled White paint reveals rusted Cast Iron below.
  • An engraved rectangle on one side of the square base see Pics #9 and 10 mayhave once held a maker’s mark but is now illegible.

  • Widest External Diameter at outer edges of Rim: a little more than 11 ½ inches in diameter atthe outer Rim edges
  • Diameter of Exterior at the outer edge of the Ridge withinthe Rim: about 8 ¾ inches in diameter
  • Diameter of top Opening (at the inner edge of the Ridgewithin the Rim): about 8 ¼ inches indiameter
  • Base: about 5 ¾ inches square

Condition:

In Great Vintage Condition:

  • No breaks, No cracks, No dents, No bent parts.
  • Sits squarely on a flat surface with no wobble.
  • Chipping crackled white paint reveals the normal rustexpected on Cast Iron.
  • A depression on the top surface of the square base(see Pic #11) corresponds to a buildup of metal on the underside (Pic #12) suggesting this formed during manufacture.
  • A small hole through the depression (Pic #11) noted above does notcompromise the integrity of this old piece.
