This appealing older woman wooden doll with back bun detailing may have been hand carved in the Kentucky Mountains circa the 1920\'s-on. She is primitively carved from a fairly light weight wood, and is hauntingly reminiscent of the Kentucky poppets with her penciled brows and eyes. I am only conjecturing though. Her broad face is further detailed with rather prominent cheek bones, a small three dimensional nose nipped at its tip, and a gently smiling mouth cut into the wood. Her parted hair appears to be painted or stained with carved small bun on the back of her head. Her stationary head, lower arms, legs, and torso are crudely carved from wood, while her lower wooden arms are attached to her torso via floppy UN-stuffed cloth. Please notice her black painted shoes. Her legs do not move but are nailed to her torso. Her wood carving sustains the imperfections, digs, and wear common to the \"whitlin\" process. Her finger tips are chipped. She remains an interesting, primitive folk art wooden doll, possibly carved in the Appalachians.PLEASE study the photos carefully and email with all questions, as the photos are part of my description.
