On offer here is a set of very rareART DECO silver monogramsfrom a shop.CIRCA 1920Cards are 15\" x 10\" the monograms are approximately 18mm x 12mm
I was lucky enough recently to purchase these fantastic and beautiful silver monograms.I bought them from a man who had recently cleared a clock makers workshop and found them in a drawer.
There are 121 intricate two letter monograms typical of the period from 1920, they have all been cast in silver. If you think of all the work that has gone into making just one of these it has to be designed and then carved and then have a mold made and then finally cast in silver.
I imagine they were from a department store Store, or some similar shop, and if you bought something like a hairbrush or a box they would ask you if you wanted to have your monogram on it, maybe it was a present for someone and you would have it monogrammed for them.
The shop would have this collection somewhere in the back of the shop rather than having to get one made every time then they could apply the monogram to the article there and then.
If you were in the antiques trade They could still be used to do the same thing or if you made jewellery you could use them Incorporated in necklaces or rings.
I think you could sell these for at least £5 each which equates to £600.
They are on used, new old stock. So the condition is fantastic. They are not hallmarked but I know they are silver because I had one tested there are four or six sharp the prongs on the back of each monogram where they would have been hammered into the wood. Because these are cast in silver the quite soft and can be bent over or snipped off with Wire cutters.
I have set the starting price at what I paid for them.

These are a rare find, I have been in the antiques business for 30 years and have never seen anything like him and probably never will again.
