140 Year Old Antique Victorian Photo/Tintype/CDV Embossed Leather Album:

This Victorian photoalbum is an original (not a reproduction); my great-aunt purchased it in 1951.The original inscription reads: “Mary Christmas to Lillie from Will Dec 25 1877”and my great-aunt’s inscription reads: “Bought by E. Louise Putnam at theSamuel Walker Est. Sale – April 21, 1951” so this album is 140 years old!

It measuresapproximately 7” high x 6” wide x 2.5” thick. The exterior is heavily embossed darkbrown leather which shows normal expected wear for an item of this age; you canstill see a lot of the gold embossing. The hinge appears to be brass. Inside,all 28 gold-edged pages are intact, although some have light staining from age.Has space for 50 photos; my great-aunt wrote in the names of a few of myrelatives on the index page. The photo pages are heavy card stock; the albumdoes have a musty “old book” odor from age and storage. Does not include anyphotos.
