This stunning antique lava cameo brooch is ca. 1860\'s. It is high relief and has wonderful detail. The lava cameo is set in 14K yellow gold (tested, not marked) and has a sterling silver backing (professionally added at some point for security of setting - also tested but unmarked). Backside has cartouche with area for engraving initials etc. The chain and pin extends 4" from bottom of cameo - also tested as 14K yellow gold. Cameo measures 1 3/4" by 1 3/8". The safety catch hardware is not in working order, the catch needs a professional adjustment/possibly replacement of safety catch portion. Still, a highly collectible piece in overall good condition.
