On display is a unique example of a 1599 Geneva Bible printed by the deputies of Christopher Barker printer to the Queens most excellentmajestie. It contains the Old and New Testament. The cover is a light Brown. Both boards and spine are firmly attatched and the book is tight and put together very well. The truly rare part of this Bible is the age. Printed just 39 years after the very first complete English version of the first Geneva Bible. It is one of only a few extremely rare Bibles printed in the 1500\'s to havesurvived the centuries.

This is anexcellentexample of a 1500\'s Bible and of course with virtually anything of this age it is incomplete. While not having checked every page it does appear to be mostly complete in the New Testament. It does end in Revelations chapter 22. That is followed by a first and second Table which is entitled abrief Table of theinterpretation of the proper names. The Old Testament starts with Exodus chapter 13. While it is incomplete, it is extraordinarily rare to find a Bible in the 1500\'s in any condition much less completely rebound with damaged pages mostly repaired. Pictures above show this. Another unusually rare part to this Bible is the type print itself. While most Geneva Bibles were printed in blackletter, this particular is an early example of roman typeface. Very unique to this time period.

It measures 9\" x 7 1/4 \" x 1 3/4\" and weighs in at a little over 2 pounds. This is a Quarto Bible which in the 1500\'s would make it a family Bible. It is of course used and does show the expected wear and tear associated with its age. That being said it is a magnificent example of a 1599 Bible being sold at a low rate. There is extensive writing on the inside as shown in the pictures above. In addition as is true in Geneva Bibles there is a massive amount of footnotes helping with interpretation.

This is an incredible opportunity to own a piece of history in the form of a Bible printed over 4 centuries ago.
