16x20” Sea Captain by David Pelbam in original antique frame. These are the dimensions of the painting. The frame adds 4+ inches.

This interesting painting was painted by David Pelbam, a NorthEastern painter who focused his work on primarily rabbis and sea captains. The man who modeled for every portrait he painted is reported to have been his father. He only painted from 1960-1970 (approximately, as reported.) His paintings have appeared in homes featured in Country Living, Better Homes and Gardens, and Traditional Home. This painting is obviously very early in his work…a delightful though consistent (with his work) theme within his paintings. He died in 2004.

Some surface cracking and a little bit of humidityresidue with a couple of smallwhite spots.You can see athe little white spots where the black paint has pinpoint rubs in the pictures. Original Art Gallery purchase tag on reverse. A stunning painting and wonderful opportunity because there will be no more painted by him.

This is a new-to-market work, having never been offered publicly since original purchase in the early 1960s.
