This is a wonderful, original document, dated 1713, St. Ann\'s Parish, Essex County, Virginia, where John Smith, Gentleman, has released all and any claims against Ephraim Paget....signedat bottom by John Smith, Thomas Winslow, Richard Buckner, Nathaniel Fogg and Salvatore Muscoe. Document is 6x8, acid free tape repairs on back split, else in overall good condition.

OnApril 11, 1712: Nathaniel Fogg, Ephraim Paget, Richard Buckner and Augustine Smith were bound 10,000 Tobacco for Nathaniel Fogg and Ephraim Paget to “keep an ordinary at the house where they now dwell in the County of Essex.” Signed Nath: ffogg, Ephraim Paget, Richd Buckner, Augt Smith. Witnesses: Ja: Alderson, Geo: Lloyd. Recorded 11 April 1712.

10 December 1713: John Smith of St Ann Parish sold to Ephraim Paget of St Ann Parish and Mary his wife. For 100 pounds good Tobacco and cask from Ephraim Paget and Mary his wife, Smith sells Ephraim Paget and Mary his wife and the heirs of her body lawfully begotten all the land on which Thomas Conoly lived, plus 115 acres in St Anns. Ephraim Paget and Mary his wife are to pay 1 peppercorn rent at the feast of St. Michael. Signed John Smith. Witnesses: Salvator Muscoe, Nathl Fogg, Tho: Winslow. Dated 10 December 1713, recorded 9 April 1714. A deed dated 11 December 1713 conveys a guarantee on the land in exchange for 5,000 pounds Tobacco.
