>This is a wonderful, original document dated 1719, Rehobeth, Massachusetts, where Lenox Beverly has signed a bond to Captain James Norton of Hingham, Mass....signed at bottomby Lenox Beverly, Samuel Thaxter and Stephen Hadden. Document is 8x12, folds, minor edge faults, else in overall good condition.

Col. Samuel Thaxter(1665-1740), ofHingham, Massachusetts, was one of the most prominent and influential citizens inPlymouth,New England. He was a member of the commission to settle the boundary betweenMassachusettsandRhode Islandin 1719. He commanded theAncient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusettsin 1728. His son Samuel Thaxter Junior (1695-1732) married Mary Hawke (1711-1798) who was the mother ofJohn Hancock(Signer of theDeclaration of Independence).

Lenox Beverly(1660-1729) lived 1689-1706 at Hingham, MA and from then until his death in Rehoboth, MA. He owned land onRocky River in the southern part of Rehoboth and some land in Swansea.
