A stunning Sterling Silver coffee pot assayed for London and dated 1729, two years into the reign of George II. The handle appears to be made out of boxwood, a finely grained wood prized for its soft feel. The pot is maker marked “I.W.” for John White. It was a tendency in early Georgian times to Latinise the ‘J’ to an ‘I’.The pot is relatively unadorned, with tasteful patterns just beneath the lid. The condition is very good, aside from a slight knock to the rim of the lid. Dimensions: 22 x 20 x 11cm
