$333.00

Original one page manuscript letter dated Hartford, March 10, 1735 written to an unknown recipient and signed by Connecticut Governor Joseph Talcott (1669-1741). Talcott responds to a complaint of counterfeiting and reports that he is taking care that the authorized signers of the official currency will be at the trial of the offenders, but that some of them are old and unable to travel far and that he is afraid only one of them may be able to attend. He promises the recipient that he will be notified of the time of trial. Connecticut issued paper currency in 1724 and again in 1733. Apparently, the authorized signers would have to be on hand at the trial to affirm that they had not signed the notes, in order to convict the guilty parties.. Size of this letter is about 7 1/2\" x 12\". Buyer satisfaction and authenticity guaranteed. $3 shipping.
