An unusual Revolutionary War period stampless letter mailed from Hartford Connecticut to Samuel Woodbridge merchants Norwich. Text of the letter reads \"“Hartford October 14, 1777. Gentlemen. I have a present occasion for the Two N.England Rum & Two hogsheads, Midling Brown Sugar, if those articles are to be got with you pray the sam may be bought & forwarded to me if you have them not they are to be purchased at Providence. I hear Rum is current as is Sugar tho rather them not have them I would Incline to give a little more, as a friend wrote me for them daily expect his terms.
