This is an uncut consecutive pair of 1781 Simsbury BridgeLottery Tickets held in 1781 fromConnecticut. The financing of improvements such as bridges and roads wasdifficult during the Revolutionary War, and lotteries like this one were heldto raise money. Each ticket is signed by Samuel Roberts in the lower rightcorner and hand-numbered in the upper right corner – numbers 881 and 882.

Printing isvery clear on this ticket. The number and the signature are slightly faded –typical of the ink used in the period - but is still very readable. In very fine condition; large uppermargins; ornate dingbat border; light overall toning, with repair glue repair on reverse where upper tickethas a horizontal split and minor edge repair at bottom.
