We are pleased to present a selection of ORIGINALengravings from The ENGLISH PEERAGE, or a View of the Ancient & Present State of the English Nobility: to which is subjoined a Chronological account of Such Titles as have become Extinct from the Norman Conquest to the beginning of the Year 1790. These are a collection of fine & unusual engraved plates of over 200 illustrations of arms, drawn by Catton & engraved by F. Chesham (Moule 685). Charles Catton was the coach painter to King George III & a founding member of the Royal Academy.

Prints measure approximately 13 inches by 9 1/2inches. The condition of the prints is good on strong chainlined paper.The charm of these prints is in the plethora of mythological & fanciful creatures depicted. Through these crests of the blue blooded of England parade a delightful array of griffons, mermen, sea gods, fork tongued dragons, lions & unicorns all encircling such mottos of yesteryear as “Virtue alone is Nobility”.

We send invoices after each sale. Do not pay if you wish to combine for up to 15 days, but pay when ready to ship. Panteek is required to declare full value of the items and buyers are responsible for all customs duties.

Terms of Sale

We sell only original antique prints of proven authenticity bought mostly at sale houses throughout Europe, America, and Asia. We do not sell reproductions of any kind. Authenticity is guaranteed and we strive to buy prints and books at the very top of the condition range. However, as the items are sometimes very old small defects are to be expected including foxing, toning, and occasional spotting.

Many prints have original hand colouring while others issued originally black & white will be hand coloured at a later date sometimes by our colourist in England and Italy. Hand colouring is a dying art and we are honored to have the services of some of the best remaining colourists in the world.

We will note any condition issues in our description along with details about the colouring. Please view the images carefully as they are scans or photos of the actual print you will receive.

Items can be returned within30 days for a full refund.
