Published: Folwell, Philadelphia, 1796. FIRST EDITION.

pp 494, [2]; 576; 478, [131 unpaginated index]. Bindings are mixed in terms of type/color leather, but all three volumes have the same red leather gilted title spine label. Scattered light foxing and wear throughout all three volumes. Text is complete and clean in each. Covers show some wear and are loosening on all three volumes. The front cover of volume III is the closest to being detached, but is still hanging on by a thread. The set could easily be repaired and preserved by a book professional.

\"The third volume though dated 1796 was not printed before 1797. Contains the acts passed by the first, second, third, and fourth Congress.This edition published under an order of the Congress of the United States, has many peculiar advantages.There is one copious, luminous Index (in Volume three), compiled by Zephaniah Swift, esq., referring to all the volumes, and comprising in itself a complete Digest of all the Laws of the United States.\" Evans. Evans also notes that Folwell\'s volume one is frequently and erroneously replaced by Childs & Swaine\'s 1795 volume (Sabin\'s reference does precisely that). FIRST EDITION. Evans 31356, 32973. A beautiful and important COMPLETE set of early American laws. Single volumes of this can be found, but rare to find a complete set. Not Ex-Lib.
