On display is a unique example of a 1797 King James Bible printed in Edinburgh Scotland by Mark and Charles Kerr, His Majesty\'s Printers. It contains the Old and New Testament with the Apocrypha. Foxing present throughout as shown in the pictures above. The cover is deep Chocolate Walnut Brown with beautiful gold leaf on the spine showing the title \"Holy Bible\" and the date 1797. The spine shows 5 raised bands. It has matching Crimson fusion marbled end papers. Both boards and spine are firmly attatched and the book is tight and put together very well. The general title page is missing but the New Testament Title page is shown. The spine has been rebound with new leather and reattached to both front and back boards making for a very firm and solid binding. This particular volume has had a challenging life but has been saved and rebound thus saving it from the dust heap of time and preserving it for future generations. The original leather is still present on both front and back boards thus preserving its integrity.

This is anexcellentexample of a 1700\'s Bible and while not having checked every page it does appear to be complete with the exception of the missing Title page as mentioned above. In addition the Psalms of David which is bound in after the book of Revelations at the end, is missing everything after Psalms 110. It does have an index to the Holy Bible included at the end of Revelations as well asthe Psalms of David which was just mentioned. It measures 10 1/2\" x 9 \" x 3\" and weighs in at 6 pounds. This is a large family Bible ideal for display. It has been rebound utilzing the existing boards to preserve its integrity. It is of course used and does show the expected wear and tear associated with its age. Because of the challenging life it has led it is being started at a low price. As such it is sold as is. That being said it is still a magnificent example of a 1700\'s Bible being sold at a discount rate.
