Original Late 17th Century Brass Candlestick 300+ Years Old!
Up for your offerding consideration is a circa 1690 square base brass candlestick, typical in a Spanish formation.
Take a moment to click on the pictures for details of original sand cast and turned/finished construction.
Again, most Likely Spanish this is a fine example of period metalworking in early lighting, many of this style Candlestick traveled throughout Europe during the period and is seen referenced in countless books on early lighting.
Stands 5 3/4\" tall with a flat squared base measurement of 4\"x4\".
Please consult the images for signs of original construction and condition.
As you can see this piece is coated with centuries of wax and tallow from various candlesticks. Should clean off if one chose to with a nice patina underneath. Looks like there may have been a small area of lead brazing to the underside were the stem screws into the base. Typical, as this area often loosened over time. Again for a 300+ year old piece this is a nice example.
