Look at this spectacular lace ! Unbelievably fine and beautiful. This mixed lace piece has been made with what I suspect is 17th century lace needles- Poin Plat possibly Point de France and edged with Alencon lace. However I am not an expert in lace so I urge buyers to study the photos to make their own determination. There are hand sewn seams throughout the piece where it has been sewn. There is a hand sewn fine material at the neck and used as a backing on the piece. There are 6 hand sewn hook and eyes for the closure. It measures 28\' long x 19\'. The lace itself is in excellent condition no rips or tears. There are a few holes in the fine material on the back which can easily be removed. Though this piece weighs nothing, it does not feel fragile and there is no dry rot. While I am not an expert, I know ultra fine and extremely old lace when I see it- this lace is rare and fabulous. It comes from a wealthy Connecticut estate. Thanks for looking !
