Faturan in Middle Eastern beadwork refers to a variety of materials such asBakelite used to make beads, notably in the making of komboloi and misbaha.
In the bead trade, faturan is often thought to be a mixture of natural amber shavings with other materials (synthetic resins, in the early 20-th Century), and is described as having been invented in the Middle Eastin the 19th Century.
In this lot we present 18 beads of different size, all in rounded rectangle shape.The beads are made of the best Faturan variety - Amber Faturan. The beads are from around 1940s.

There are 11 large beads with length and diameter: 33 mm and 25 mm
2 medium-sized - length and diameter: 26 mm and 21 mm
and 5 small beads - length and diameter: 23 mm x 20 mm

The beads have wearing due time, small scratches and tiny dents.One of the small beads has flake dent around the thread hole.There are no cracks, nor large dents on the rest.The beads are in very good antique condition.
