18\" Antique Kicking Screaming Jules Nicholas Steiner Doll Gigoteur Mechanical 1880 with sparkling blue set eyes. Circa 1880
This is an especially pretty Gigoteur by Jules Nicholas Steiner. She has no damage or repairs. She has a beautiful solid dome bisque head with blue glass set paperweight eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, dark eyeliner, rose eye shadow, brush-stroked eyebrows, and almost smiling open mouth with two rows of tiny teeth. This is more of a older girl Steiner than a baby which is evident from her pierced ears and serene childlike face that is framed with a light brown curly mohair wig.
She has composition arms and legs. Wind the key and she works well. She turns her head back and forth and her arms go up and down and her legs go up and down and she cries \"mama\". What a delight for a child 100 years ago and still a delight today.
Wearing a lovely white antique lace trimmed dress with blue ribbon detailing at waist and neck and a full set of undergarments. Her her antique bonnet is trimmed in lace and frames her face nicely. White socks and antique leather shoes complete her outfit.
This is a lovely French bisque Bebe that is sure to delight! Circa 1880.
