Click to View Image Album Fresh from a local estate, and sorry to say that I know very little about early needle work.

This 19th Century piece depicts Mary and the Child Jesus, worked in petit point and needlepoint. Extremely detailed, with the petit point stitches measuring 32 stitches to the inch.

The 24.75\" x 29.75\" Rosewood and gilt frame is original to the piece, as is the glass. Actual image area of work measures 17.75\" x 22.759\". Most photos taken at an angle to reduce glare on the glass.

An exceptional piece, but unsigned, as best I can tell. As you can see, the backside is covered in the original silk fabric, sealed, just as it was made. Since I do not want to damage the backing, I have not attempted to remove this piece from the frame. There could possibly be a signature on the fabric edge or backside, but I will leave that decision to the new owner.

Displays beautifully, with no rips, tears, holes, or repairs. Frame does show wear and some chipping to corners, as expected.
