A superbly carved and pierced fan that dates from the 1800s.

It was made purely for export to the West through the oldChinatrade.

The fan is decorated with the intricate and delicate piercing and carving typical of the workmanship of this period. The skill needed to carve this is breathtaking! carved only on one side

The fan has been decorated withfloral andbird decoration withsmall carvings of buildings / pagodas andpeople .
