1813 RARE ANTIQUE EARLY 19TH CENTURY \'THE MASSACHUSETTS REGISTER\'CLOTH/LEATHER BINDING(Inscribed with cursivepenmanship:Mary Low, Gloucester (MA))DESCRIPTION:This 205 year-old early American \'The Massachusetts Register\' is from the United States Federal period) leather boundcloth book is a small folio, handset woodblock type pressed graphic typesetting early cloth volume, with a half-way still intact leather heel binding with pressed gold gilt lettering. It was printed only 37 years after the US War of Independence from the United Kingdom and references the names of many leaders of respective Massachusetts counties, including some of the more notable names and personalities of the period, including the names of some more famous Americans such as Samuel Adams, John Hancock, John Winthrop, John Carver and William Bradford. The book contains information about each and every early Massachusetts county, sitting justices, attorneys and other individuals charged with overseeing the newly realized democracy. There are a few torn pages, the binding is not fully intact and the front and back covers are scuffed and suffer from some superficial loss of the mottled, decorated original cover surfaces. The book is also signed in fine cursivepenmanship with crow-quill pen on the inside pages \'Mary Low, Gloucester,\' (Massachusetts.)
