Who are you buying from?
Good question! Here's a recent newspaper article about us--with a photo
This is a large and beautiful, early map of
Georgia. Map contains cartouche vignette, a table of distances, a statistical
table, and "Remarks, Statistical and Geological," 1818.
From Map: Map Of The State of Georgia Prepared from actual Surveys and other Documents for Eleazer Early By Daniel Sturges. Entered According to Act of Congress by Eleazer Early Proprietor. Engraved by Saml. Harrison 1818. Published & Sold By Eleazer Early Savannah Georgia and By John Melish & Samuel Harrison Philadelphia.
Actual map is much sharper and detailed than the low resolution scanned image used here.
The map size is selected from the drop-down menu at
top of listing. Please note that the sizes listed are an approximation.
The map is a modern reprint. It is reprinted (a modern reprint) using premium semi-matte, Japanese paper and Ultrachrome ink, which has an archival rating of 125+ years. For more information about how the maps are made see our "me" page

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the resolution disappointing?
No, is the simple answer. Because we are dealing with historical pieces from a wide range of regions, creators and time periods, there is variation in the quality. However, we always ask ourselves if we would be pleased with a particular image framed and on display before we add it to our inventory. We do not carry low-quality "snapshots," cheap digital scans or multi-generational prints.
When we create a large-format negative at the archive the resulting digital file can easily exceed one gigabyte. The detail is so good that the actual fibers in the paper or cloth of the original map are visible in the print we make.
Are the maps in the public domain?
Many of the images are available for use as public domain images. Some of the images can be licensed for limited commercial use and some are restricted for all commercial activities. If you would like more information about a particular image, email us.
Will the watermark/writing appear on the map I receive?
No. The writing on the internet image of the photograph is to discourage copying and will not appear on your photograph.
How are the maps shipped?
Maps are rolled and placed in a plastic sleeve and then into a rigid tube that is of a larger diameter than the sleeve. This ensures that an impact to the tube will not be transferred to the image. Maps may ship via USPS, Fedex or UPS. International shipments are sent via air mail or air parcel post, depending on size. Fedex is available for international shipments but you must contact us first to arrange the extra charge.
Is this available in a larger/smaller size.
Yes. Please note that there is a drop-down menu at the top of this listing that offers two sizes, 36" by 54" and 44" by 64". We also offer this map in 18" by 24" and 24" by 30". Those two sizes are a separate listing in our store. Just use the search box in our listing and the title of this listing and you should find them easily. If you want a print that is smaller than the 18" by 24" size, contact us via email using the "ask seller a question link" that provides on this page.
