Paris: [N.p.], [n.d., 1829 Félix Édouard Guérin-Méneville (12 October 1799 Toulon – 26 January 1874 Paris) was a French entomologist. Guérin-Méneville changed his surname from Guérin in 1836. He was the author of the illustrated work Iconographie du Règne Animal de G. Cuvier 1829–1844, a complement to the work of Georges Cuvier and Pierre André Latreille, which lacked illustrations. He also founded several revues :le Magasin de zoologie, d’anatomie comparée et de paléontologie (1830), la Revue zoologique par la Société cuviérienne (1838), la Revue et Magasin de zoologie pure et appliquée (1849), Revue de sériciculture (1863). He was editor of Dictionnaire Pittoresque d’Histoire Naturelle, published in Paris 1836-1839. Guérin-Méneville was elected president of the Société Entomologique de France for the year 1846. "In a report to the Académie des Sciences Cuvier recommended the work as being very useful for people who wanted to know the multifarious animal forms, and he also said that the figures were 'as accurate as they were elegant'" (Anker 191). NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH Guérin's Dictionnaire Pittoresque d’Histoire Naturelle which has much inferior plates and colouring FROM THE LARGE PAPER EDITION.

Having studied at Oxford University in the early 1980s I was lucky enough to learn about the rare book trade by scuttling around the markets and sale houses of London at a time when it was still quite possible to discover \"that find\". Similarly I was able to hone my specialist interests in early photography, the history of science and Helvetica, something that I hope is still reflected in the items I offer.
