click to enlargeUp for sale on is a \"1860s CIVIL WAR ALBUM OF FRIENDSHIP HANDWRITTEN DIARY LETTERS POEMS STEEL ENGRAVINGS.\" The civil war era album was given to a friend in August of 1859. The antique album is in fair condition, with discoloring stains and creases. It covers the years from 1859 to 1865 as it was passed along from one friend to another. Each friend would sign their name and the city or town they were from and in most instances the date of the entry. The majority of the friends hand wrote a poem, a letter or short note to their beloved friend who goes by the name of Fannie Robinson. Since the majority of the entries are from friends that lived in the Ohio area, I assume that Fannie is from the Ohio area. However, there is one entry that was written by Fannie addressed to herself that is signed Fannie M. Robinson or Fannie H. Robinson from Boston with a date of December 6, 1859. There are 19 different friends who hand signed their autographs in the friendship book. An amazing group of letters and poems that were written between a close group of friends who remained in contact with each other despite the traggic civil war period they all experienced during the 1861 thru 1865 years. One can only imagine the heart warming effect that reading a handwritten letter that was written likely by a feather quill from a dear friend had on the receiver. The antique friendship album written over 150+ years ago would make a wonderful treasure to any collection.
